SEND is everyone’s responsibility, so help your governors to become more confident in SEND and book a training place today.
The role of school governor or trustee is one of strategic leadership and accountability. To be able to do this well, the board must have a good understanding of special educational needs and disabilities and how to evaluate the effectiveness of the school’s provision for these potentially vulnerable pupils.
nasen is an independent charity that aims to support education professionals working with children and young people with special and additional educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Our goal is to work towards helping everyone to achieve the best possible outcomes and we recognise the important role played by governors and trustees in this mission.
We have teamed up with the National Governance Association (NGA) to design face-to-face training for governors and trustees, to help them better understand their responsibilities regarding pupils with SEND.
The training covers topics such as:
- What SEND is and how it is determined
- Key legislation, guidance and policies
- Funding for SEND
- Roles and responsibilities
- What governors need to know about pupils with SEND in their school
