SEND Casework Award - London

This Award is the only on-the-job training and accreditation written specifically for those directly involved in SEND casework. To date more than 50 local authorities and 375 candidates nationally have participated in the Award.

Established more than 10 years ago, a new version of the casework award will be available through nasen. This BTEC is a unique course designed for those working in a local authority SEND service or information advice and support service. Candidates will be managing, co-ordinating or supporting the co-production with children, young people, parents and/or carers of the education, health and care needs assessment process. A key feature of the programme is that it provides professional accreditation of work-based knowledge and skills, within the context of the 2014 SEND reforms. The course will continue to be led by Ian Palmer.

The course content covers all of the technical and legal aspects of SEND assessment, review and coordination process, with particular reference to the Code of Practice (2015), and the interpersonal, communication and selfmanagement skills required by staff for effective and excellent professional practice.
