Gaming and SEND: the good, the bad and the misunderstood - LONDON
EVENT - 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM, 13 June 2019
LABS Hogarth House
With more than 2.2 billion active gamers world-wide, it is becoming increasingly important to understand how this is affecting children and young people. Significant media attention has focused on excessive screen time and addiction, but there is also research focused on the benefits of gaming, particularly for learners with SEND (special educational needs and/or disabilities). This seminar will provide a balanced exploration of gaming and will support teachers in maximising the opportunities of gaming for learners with SEND, whilst supporting those with gaming problems. Seminar participants will also be provided with practical resources that they can use to support both learners and the wider school workforce.
