ISEC 2010 CALL FOR PAPERS

CALL FOR PAPERS

The 7th Inclusive and Supportive Education Congress (ISEC) will be held at Queen’s University Belfast, on August 1-5, 2010. The Congress is for academics, practitioners and policy-makers with an interest in promoting inclusive education from all five continents of the globe. Proposals for ISEC 2010 should be submitted no later than February 28 2009.

This Call for Papers is to invite proposals for poster presentations, individual papers, symposiums and workshops on any of the following themes:

  • Diversity
  • Inclusive practice
  • Debates in evidence-informed policy and effective evaluation
  • Children’s rights, voice and participation in education
  • Collaboration, sharing and capacity-building to promote inclusion

Conference formats:

  • Poster presentations: these sessions allow for the display of materials and graphics related to a project and provide an opportunity for individualized, informal discussion with the author(s).
  • Roundtable: this format dispenses with the traditional verbal presentation and provides an opportunity for detailed discussion with the author(s) of a paper. Author(s) will provide copies of their paper and will be available throughout a roundtable session to discuss their work.
  • Individual presentation: the traditional conference format in which the author(s) gives an abbreviated verbal presentation of their work to a audience followed by a short period for questions and discussion. Normally 20 minutes will be available for each presentation.
  • Symposium: a symposium provides an opportunity for a series of presentations (normally between four and six presenters) on a linked theme or issue, followed by moderated discussion on the issues raised.
  • Workshop: workshops provide an opportunity for interaction and discussion on a theme; presentations are generally brief and the primary focus is on interaction and engagement between the participants.

Proposals for ISEC 2010 should be submitted no later than the end of February, 2009. The procedures for submitting proposals can be found at the conference website: www.ISEC2010.org. Each proposal should include:

  • The name and affiliation of the proposer(s) who will author and deliver the presentation
  • Contact details
  • The title of the presentation
  • The conference theme within which the presentation is located
  • The preferred conference format for delivery of the paper
  • A 500 word summary of the presentation
  • A symposium proposal should include titles and 300 word summaries for each of the presentations and an additional 500 word summary of the session theme
  • The 500 word summary for a workshop proposal should identify the focused activity to be addressed

All papers will be referred and proposers will be notified by the end of June, 2009. Full copies of papers should be submitted by the end of February, 2010.
