Overlapping or co-existing ADHD, Autism (ASD), Asperger syndrome, Dyslexia and Dyspraxia (DCD) refers to a wider range of additional difficulties not directly related to the core presentation. This is an area of growing interest because it calls into question the boundaries of each difficulty and the support they require. The elevated risk to the education of the student with any one of these difficulties requires a greater understanding of them all. The keynote presentation will be delivered by Madeleine Portwood, Specialist Senior Educational Psychologist, Durham County Council.
Full details of conference workshops will be available soon. Workshops will cover the following areas:
- co-existing ADHD - ADHD and co-morbidities. Issues for children and young people
- co-existing autism and Asperger syndrome - Identifying and addressing the needs of a child with autism or Asperger syndrome 24/7
- co-existing dyslexia - Teaching children with dyslexia: dealing with co-occurring difficulties
- co-existing dyspraxia - Developmental Dyspraxia: Identification and intervention
Delegates may select two of the four workshops available. Morning workshops are repeated in the afternoon.
As part of the conference package delegates will receive a comprehensive pack of information, including handouts from all four workshops. A certificate of attendance will be mailed to each delegate after the event.
The conference fee includes refreshments throughout the day and a hot two course meal.
