Ofsted Release New Proposed Education Inspection Framework

News - 18 Jan 2019

Ofsted released their new proposed Education Inspection Framework (EIF) and associated handbooks on 16th January for a consultation which ends 4th April.

There are indications of a higher profile for inclusion within the EIF:
- Assessing the extent of compliance with the Equality Act, 2010
- Leaders needing a clear vision for inclusive education, realised through strong shared values, policies and practice
- Leaders ensuring all learners complete their programmes of study, thereby not allowing ‘off-rolling’
- Mention of the need for an ambitious curriculum which meets the needs of learners with high levels of  SEND
- Pedagogy to include teaching to help learners remember content and embed knowledge
- A curriculum sequenced towards cumulatively ‘sufficient’ knowledge and skills for future learning and employment
- Impact where achievement is reflected in exam results and national tests where relevant
- Where relevant, gaining qualifications to allow learners to go on to destinations that meet their interests and aspirations
There is also reference to the need to support learners to develop their character, including their confidence, independence and to know how to keep mentally healthy.
