Hereward College is recruiting to its governing board
Hereward College is a Further Education College with a specialist remit, aiming to provide education, training and employability for learners across a wide spectrum of disability and additional needs, with learners ranging in age from 16 - 25 years old.
We currently have vacancies on the board and have a particular interest in people with a SEN background at this time.
As well as having full board governors, we have introduced the role of co-opted members to the board which allows potential governors to work with specific board committees before they commit to the full responsibilities of becoming a board member. This is useful as it provides an opportunity for the individual to understand the role of a governor and to gain an insight into the issues affecting the college. It also allows for the Governors to review the contributions of the individual.
The board is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the college and for approving financial and management plans. Governors come from a wide cross section of the community and are unpaid. Membership involves a commitment to attend six corporation meetings annually (5pm – 7pm), (October to July) as well as undertaking a Governor Development programme. The day to day management of the college is the responsibility of the Senior Leadership Team.
We are looking for individuals who are enthusiastic, keen to be involved and able to work in a team. In return, Hereward College can offer the chance for the individuals to contribute to developing and shaping the future strategic direction of a further education college. Ideally with management experience, we offer the opportunity for individuals to assist in making a real difference to students’ lives.
