Final Report Released on Work Experience and Vocational/Technical Provision for Young People on SEN Support: A Rapid Evidence Assessment
The Department for Education have released a final report on work experience for young people on SEN support.
The Government have announced an extension of the review of its autism strategy to cover children and young people, as well as adults. The review will inform the new joint adults and children autism strategy to be published in autumn 2019.
The Whole School SEND Consortium is delighted to announce the launch of four new projects, as part of their work to support all education professionals to deliver high quality SEND provision with confidence. The new projects aim to increase the confidence and skills of a wide range of education professionals – including those new to the classroom, SENCos and senior leaders.

INVITATION TO TENDER (ITT) to provide a report structure and report for a Senior Leadership exchange placement programme, completed by Whole School SEND-appointed Senior Leaders in school settings as part of the DfE SEND Schools’ Workforce contract 2018-2019. This contract is for the provision of strategic support to the workforce in mainstream and special schools, enabling them to deliver high quality teaching which meets the needs of an increasingly broad range of special educational needs.

On 15th December the DfE launched a consultation on ‘Strengthening Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and Improving Career Progression for Teachers’. nasen will be joining with its partners within the Whole School SEND Consortium to respond to this consultation.
The DfE has produced new draft guidance aimed at reducing the need for restraint and restrictive intervention for children and young people with learning disabilities, autistic spectrum disorder and mental health needs. They are seeking views on this guidance.
