promoting achievement through effective assessment: improving the outcomes for pupils with special and additional educational needs and disabilities
12th February 2010
Early Bird offer extended until the 29th January - Due to the adverse weather conditions we have extended the early bird offer to ensure that all those unable to book due to school closures are not unfairly penalised.
introduction
The Government’s Achievement for All project aims to raise aspirations for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities, with a focus on educational outcomes. Our ability to improve those outcomes will depend on the tools available to accurately and effectively assess performance, and the skills available within schools to implement them. Assessment, tracking and intervention includes the use of Assessing Pupil Progress (APP) to track pupils’ progress, the setting of curriculum targets and implementation of appropriate interventions to support children and young people to make progress in their learning.
This one day conference aims to develop practical skills and experience in applying useful, effective pupil assessment.
Delegates will attend all of the following workshops:
- Assessing Pupil Progress - Steve Anwyll, Head of Standards and Assessment, Qualifications and Curriculum Development Agency (QCDA)
- Using the P Scales - Louise Brine, Project Co-ordinator, QCA Publication "Using the P Scales"
- Progression Guidance - Philippa Stobbs, SEN Professional Adviser, DCSF
- RAISE online - Ofsted / DCSF
The conference programme has been designed to allow delegates to make the most of the day. In addition to attending workshops as part of the conference programme, delegates will have the opportunity to attend a small exhibition of resources supporting children and young people with special and additional needs, and those working with them.
conference package
Each delegate will receive a comprehensive pack of information and handouts for all workshops. Refreshments will
be provided throughout the day in addition to a two course lunch. Delegates will have access to an exhibition of resources appropriate for this conference.
