Children with Special Educational Needs: An analysis - 2012
The Special Educational Needs (SEN) Information Act (2008) required the Secretary of State to publish information about children in England with SEN to help improve the well-being of these children.
This is the fourth annual statistical publication that has been developed to meet the requirements of the Act. This publication includes new information on pupils with SEN alongside further interpretation of existing findings. All figures are provided at national level, with some existing regional and local authority (LA) level information.
RALLI
One child in every reception classroom is affected by a specific language impairment, a little-recognised condition that affects all aspects of life, prompting a group of leading academics to come together and launch RALLI, a video led campaign to raise awareness.
Their main videos include young people with SLI and they have a film specifically for teachers - called Signs of SLI (and an accompanying powerpoint for training purposes).
Advisory Centre for Education Closure
Sadly, the centre in its current form is no longer financially viable and the trustees have taken the difficult decision to move to closure.
The good news however is that some of ACE's work will continue, albeit in a different form. ACE Education Advice & Training is a new community interest company being set up by a group of existing ACE staff.
