What do I get for my nasen membership?

There are three different types of nasen membership, and you can choose which option is best for you or your organisation depending on the level of support you require.Visit our membership page to see what’s available at bronze, silver and gold level. 

Who is a nasen membership for?

A nasen membership is particularly suited to individuals and organisations who support or teach young people with special or additional educational needs. 

How much does nasen membership cost?

Fees vary depending on which level of nasen membership you choose (bronze, silver or gold), as well as whether you are joining as an individual or on behalf of an organisation. You can view these fees on our membership page

Does nasen offer concessionary membership?

Concessionary rates are available for students, retirees, parents of children with SEN and unwaged members. If you fall into any of these categories, please contact our membership team on 01827 311500 who will help process a concessionary application with you. 

What is nasen Online Journals?

Nasen Online Journals is a separate and optional subscription package that provides digital access to over 25 years’ worth of academic SEND articles through the nasen online index. Nasen’s professional journals The British Journal of Special Education, Support for Learning and JORSEN are included in the price of online subscription and can be searched simultaneously using keywords.

*This subscription must be purchased in combination with a full individual or organisational membership; it is not available separately.

How do I access online resources?

Your online resources, including journals, and training exercises are accessible via your member area of the nasen website. You can log in using your registered e-mail address and password which you will receive when you become a nasen member. 

How long does nasen membership last?

A nasen membership provides an annual subscription that is valid for 12 months. All renewals commence in January, so joining mid-year will result in a pro-rata fee.

Don’t worry, when it’s time to renew, we will contact you via renewal letter and e-mail reminder to ensure you don’t miss out.

When will I receive my membership details?

Upon joining as a nasen member, you will receive a nasen welcome pack (from January 2017 onwards). We will also e-mail you with confirmation of your account, including membership number and access information.

As soon as you have received this, you will have unlimited access to the membership area for the duration of your membership subscription. 

What is the difference between Individual and Organisational Membership?

Both types of members receive the same benefits within the same packages, however, individual membership is most suited for professionals who are not part of an organisation for example, independent SEN Practitioners or parents, or people who are unlikely to remain with the same organisation for the duration of the membership.

Individual membership is exclusive to the named account holder and does not cover any additional staff or students. Individual membership resources and offers must not be shared with anyone other than the account holder.

Organisational membership covers every staff member within the setting registered. There is no limit to how many staff can sign up for their own unique nasen username and password, giving them the flexibility to access our materials at their convenience, any time, online or mobile.

With an organisational membership, discounts on products such as nasen Live will extend to all staff within that setting, meaning that multiple people can access the valuable event at a reduced rate. The same applies for any discounts on products that nasen provide. 

Bespoke training packages are only available to organisational members.

Please note that all members, whether individual or organisation will receive one copy of nasen Connect per edition. Editions can also be accessed electronically, via the members area on the nasen website. 

What discounts does nasen membership provide?

How do I access the members’ area?

In order to log on to the nasen members’ area, please first ensure that you have purchased a subscription. You may have registered your details with us recently, however this does not provide you with access to this particular part of our site.

Events

Does the fee for the conference include lunch?

Nasen full day events usually include a two course meal but please check individual event details.  If you have any special dietary requirements, please let us know when booking your place.

How do I get to the venue?

Full details of event venues and directions can be found on each event page, along with a link to the venue web page. We are not able to book or advise on transport options.

Will I receive a certificate of attendance?

Delegates attending full day conferences will receive a certificate of attendance. For all other nasen events, please check by calling 01827 311 500.

Can nasen deliver training in my school?

Nasen provides a wide range of bespoke training in schools and other settings. For details please contact Alison Wilcox, Education Development officer on 01827 311 500.

How much does nasen training cost?

Each nasen training event is priced individually depending on content and the number of trainers required. For details please contact 01827 311 500.

Will I receive hand-outs at the event?

Hand-outs are provided for delegates attending nasen events, except where events are free to attend.

Can I download hand-outs?

If you have paid to attend an event hand-outs can usually be downloaded after the event has taken place.

Can I book accommodation for the conference through nasen?

Unfortunately unless the event place includes accommodation, we are unable to book accommodation for you. If you would like to enquire if accommodation is available at the venue or locally, please contact the venue direct using the link to the venue website on the event page.

Can you accommodate my special needs?

We will make all reasonable attempts to accommodate your special access or dietary requirements where we are advised in advance of the event. If you require information or hand-outs in an alternative format, or have special physical access requirements please contact Sarah Cann on 01827 311 500 or email events@nasen.org.uk when booking your place to advise the support required.

How can I contribute to nasen events in future?
