developing inclusive school leaders

Introduction

2nd October 2009  -  ExCel, London

The responsibilities placed on school leaders have never been greater than today. Developing inclusive school leaders therefore might at first glance appear to add another level of complexity, however weaving inclusive practice into the fabric of school’s strategy can help to create the most effective learning environments, develop new leadership skills and ensure that schools meet the needs of all pupils.

Keynote presentations will bring all delegates up to date with what's happening with education policy, changes to inspection duties, training for SENCOs and leadership for schools.

Keynote Speeches:

  • 21st century leadership – special educational needs and disability
Hardip Begol, Deputy Director for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF)
  • Judging outcomes for pupils with learning difficulties and/or disabilities
Janet Thompson, Her Majesty’s Inspector, Ofsted
  • Workforce development – leading on inclusion
Phil Snell, Programme Lead, Special Educational Needs and Disability, Training and Development Agency for Schools, (TDA)
  • Collaborative strategic leadership between institutions to maximise provision
Mike Gibbons, representing the National College of School Leadership (NCSL)
